With plenty of talent on Ohio State’s roster including a majority of starters returning from last season, the Buckeye’s will begin the 2015 season as the number one team according to CBS Sports Preseason 128 rankings. The Buckeyes are in hopes of back to back national championships.
Voted on by CBS Sports’ college football experts, the Buckeyes sit atop the standings followed by TCU (No. 2) and Baylor (No. 3). Coincidental, TCU and Baylor were left out of last year’s inaugural College Football Playoff.
The SEC, Pac-12, and Big Ten are well-represented combining 16 total teams in the top 25. The SEC is led by the Crimson Tide from Alabama (No. 4) and Iron Bowl rivals Auburn (No. 6).
After Ohio State, the Big Ten has Michigan State checking in at No. 5, while Oregon (No. 7), Georgia (No. 8), USC (No. 9) and Notre Dame (No. 10) fill out the rest of the rankings.
There have also been some surprises in the polls this year as well. Arizona State is all the way up at the No. 12 position, just ahead of Pac-12 foe UCLA who sits at No.13.
Florida State just missed the top ten settling in at No. 11 while LSU barely made the top 25 coming in at No.24.
