The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns lost a big part of their receiving for the 2015 season. The team lost wide receiver Jared Johnson after he tore a tendon in his left knee during fall training camp.
According to College Football Talk, Johnson, who was listed as the number two receiver on the depth chart, was injured during a practice on Saturday this past weekend. Head coach Mark Hudspeth talked about the injury and wishes Johnson a full recovery.
“It’s really disappointing for him, but we’re hoping he can be back at full speed for the spring,” Hudspeth said.
Johnson didn’t catch a lot of passes last season, only catching ten for the season. However, three of his receptions were for touchdowns and that was good enough to put him second on the Ragin’ Cajuns’ stat total as well as earn a significant role in 2015.
In 2014, the Ragin’ Cajuns went to the New Orleans Bowl as Sun Belt Champions. However, the Georgia Southern Eagles actually won the conference, but were not eligible for postseason play due it being their first year in the FBS.
Louisiana-Lafayette opens the 2015 season on September 5 when they play at Kentucky.
