Les Miles tries to recruit LSU basketball star Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons may just be the piece the LSU basketball team needs to compete for a national championship. Head football coach Les Miles must think that same thing about him in regards to the football team.

Simmons is a six-foot-nine, 225 pound power forward and was the number one basketball recruit in the nation for the class of 2015. He would make a monster of a wide receiver and Miles recognizes that.

According to College Spun, Miles told Ross Dellenger of the New Orleans Advocate that he has a spot open for Simmons on the football team if he wants it. That is certainly a long shot, but heck, it doesn’t hurt to try.

Whether Miles was just joking or not, Simmons would make one hell of a goal line threat. How many six-foot-nine cornerbacks do you see nowadays? And with the jumping ability of Simmons, there would be no stopping him on a fade pattern.

However, Simmons has way too much riding on his basketball future. He is currently projected as the number one pick in the 2016 NBA Draft in many mocks, so I wouldn’t expect to see him putting on shoulder pads and a helmet anytime soon.
