Ole Miss Rebels sophomore offensive lineman Rod Taylor has a torn labrum in his shoulder and will be out for the next two to three weeks. David Johnson of 247 Sports reported Taylor’s injury.
Taylor’s injury requires surgery, but he will instead play through it this season and have the procedure done at the end of the year. As noble as that may sound, it’s probably a better idea that he get the operation sooner rather than later. But at the same time, Taylor probably wouldn’t play unless he was told it was OK to do so, and that is what the former five-star prospect will do. Sources told Johnson that Taylor suffered the injury away from the field, thus making it a non-football injury.
Hopefully, Taylor is not slowed by his bad shoulder and is able to turn in a solid season as the Rebels look to continue improving under coach Hugh Freeze.
Ole Miss opens the season at home against Tennessee-Martin on September 5.
