Back when Jim Harbaugh was with the San Francisco 49ers, his choice of sideline apparel became just as big of a story as the coach himself. People were infatuated with Harbaugh’s khakis, and that is still the case despite Harbaugh moving to Ann Arbor to coach the Michigan Wolverines.
In fact, Harbaugh’s khakis are still such a big deal that they will be present on a special edition bus for FOX Sports.
FOX Sports created a bus that is wearing khakis to promote Michigan’s Sept. 3 season opener against the Utah Utes which airs on Fox Sports 1.
“Once it became official that Harbaugh was going to return to coach, it became a huge, huge priority for us, from a production standpoint and a marketing standpoint,” said Robert Gottlieb, executive vice president and head of marketing for Fox Sports Media Group, via the Detroit Free Press.
“There’s a lot of traditional media we’re going to do around the game: TV commercials and radio commercials. But it was so special, and the appeal and the interest in Harbaugh and the program is so intensified, that we definitely wanted to do something that was a little out of the ordinary that would help drive home the message that this game is coming.
“If you’re a college football fan, nobody’s going to want to miss this.”
It’s a pretty hilarious tribute to the new Wolverines head coach, but with the way he has been in the headlines throughout the offseason we should not be surprised.
If there is one thing we have learned, it is that people can’t get enough of Coach Harbaugh… or his khakis.
