Austin Roberts started his college career after signing with the Alabama Crimson Tide. After deciding that he wasn’t going to see much time on the field, he took his talents to the junior college ranks where he played two seasons with Northeastern Oklahoma.
According to College Spun, Roberts is going to get another chance in the FBS world as he is now going to be playing for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2015. The three-star defensive end from Georgia announced his decision via Twitter.
Scout’s Bob Przybylo originally reported the news saying that Roberts had taken two summer classes this offseason and had gotten his grades to the point where he could join the Sooners in Norman for the 2015 season.
He took two summer classes back home in Georgia and earned a B grade in both his history and math classes so he put in the work to get to Norman. Unfortunately, Roberts has already missed the first 10 days of camp as everybody worked toward getting his transcript issues figured out.
Roberts should be able to come in immediately and make a big impact for the Sooners. He will also be able to provide some depth at defensive end for the team. He has three years of eligibility left while only having to play two.
