Alabama QB Jacob Coker misses part of practice

With all the attention surrounding the Ohio State quarterback competition this offseason, it’s no surprise that Alabama’s quarterback situation has gotten swept under the rug. The team has struggled to find its leader behind center this summer, but on Monday, things got a little interesting in Tuscaloosa.

According to College Spun, Jacob Coker, the only Crimson Tide quarterback with any kind of valuable experience, was not at practice during the media portion of the day. There was no reason as to why Coker wasn’t there, but it gave the young guys like David Cornwell and Blake Barnett the chance to shine with the first team.

While it’s probably not that big of a deal, considering that Coker was at practice later in the day, it is worth noting that head coach Nick Saban was not happy about his quarterback predicament. He showed that after he went on a rant about his guys not wanting to step up and take the lead for the position on Saturday.

The Tide need to figure out their quarterback situation and fast. The team opens the season on September 5 when they take on Wisconsin at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
