The 2014 Iron Bowl was just another classic game in the long line of great games between the Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide. The loss is still sticking with Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and he feels like his team should have done much more than they did in the game.
The Tigers were leading the Tide 36-27 late in the third quarter, but Nick Saban’s crew went on a huge 28-8 run to make the final score 55-44. According to AL.com, Malzahn said that the Tigers should have had a much bigger lead than what they held late in the game.
“We didn’t score touchdowns in the red zone. We should have put 60 on them, and we didn’t,” Malzahn told ESPN.com. “That was the most disappointing thing, when you have a chance to do something special and don’t, and then we gave up all those fourth-quarter points.
Malzahn feels like his team has their rival’s number this year and they won’t allow the Tide to get their number come November.
“We let them off the hook, but we’ve got them at home this year.”
The Iron Bowl takes place in Jordan O’Hare Stadium on November 28.
