Old Dominion sells out NC State game in 19 minutes

When you think of the Old Dominion Monarchs, a football powerhouse doesn’t immediately come to mind. However, football fans at Old Dominion appear to be very excited for the upcoming season as evidenced by recent ticket sales.

On Monday, tickets went on sale for the Monarchs’ Sept. 19 matchup against the North Carolina State Wolfpack at Foreman Field and the response was remarkable.

According to The Virginia Pilot, it took just 19 minutes for the game to sell out.

Foreman Field seats 20,118 fans and all 41 games at the facility have been sold out since the Monarchs began play there. With the most recent response, Monarchs athletic director Wood Selig seems to believe that will once again be the case in 2015.

“We have almost a month until our first home game,” he said. “Now that the team is back practicing and folks are actually starting to think football, I’m confident the remaining 500 will move in the next month.”

There are single game tickets remaining for various games at Foreman Field, but if you were hoping to score a seat when the Wolfpack come to town you will have to try your luck on the secondary market.

It is great to see the support continuing to grow for the Monarchs football program and hopefully that will continue.
