USC TE Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick to miss 2015 season

USC Trojans junior tight end Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick will miss the entire 2015 season so that he may focus on academics, head coach Steve Sarkisian said. The announcement was confirmed on the athletic department’s Twitter page.

A former four-star recruit out of Rocklin, California’s Whitney High School, near Sacramento, Cope-Fitzpatrick also missed all of last season to focus on academics, and it appears 2015 will be no different.

Since joining USC in 2012, he has yet to make an impact on the field and has managed just three receptions for 16 yards.

Regardless of whatever the issues he has in the classroom are, here’s hoping that Cope-Fitzpatrick can get the monkey off his back and get his grades in order so that he can get back on the field and start living up to his strong potential.

USC opens the season at home against the Sun Belt’s Arkansas State Red Wolves on September 5.
