The Dallas Cowboys received some great news today in regards to one of their injured offensive lineman.
Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk is reporting that right guard Zach Martin is expected to return to the field next week after leaving practice on Wednesday because of an injury to his head and neck.
Medical staff attended to Martin on the field for several minutes before he was able to head to the sideline under his own power. His injury has been diagnosed as a stinger and the team’s website says he will miss the rest of the week.
Martin more than likely sit out the Cowboys second pre-season game against the 49ers as a precaution.
Unfortunately for Dallas, the injury bug has plagued the big men upfront. Left guard Ronald Leary had an MRI on his back earlier this week, left tackle Tyron Smith has been bothered by a biceps issue and right tackle Doug Free is battling a foot injury. The injuries are not considered to be serious, but I am sure the coaching staff would love to get them back on the field sooner rather than later.
Dallas opens the regular season against the hated New York Giants on September 13th.
