Freshman F/C Moustapha Diagne won’t enroll at Syracuse

The past few seasons have been very difficult for Syracuse basketball. On Wednesday, Jim Boeheim and the Orangemen received more disappointing news. This time in regards to one of the commitments from their 2015 recruiting class.

According to Mike Waters of the Syracuse Post-Standard, forward/center Moustapha Diagne will not enroll at Syracuse this season and will instead attend junior college.

Diagne was going to be counted on to contribute right away. With big man Rakeem Chritmas now in the NBA, the Orangemen are lacking size down low.

During the off-season Syracuse added 7-foot-2 transfer Paschal Chukwu from Providence, but he will have to sit out a year per NCAA rules.

Boeheim announced in the spring that he will step-down after three more years of coaching. His first season since that decision is getting off to a rough start.

With roster questions still remaining it will be interesting to see how relevant Syracuse basketball is this year.
