South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier has been fairly happy with his tem’s practices as they prepare for the upcoming college football season, but he has yet to name a starting quarterback.
However, that could be changing soon.
It appears that Spurrier is closing in on making that decision and it could come next week.
Spurrier added QB competition remains very even. He hopes to have starter for #Gamecocks opener named by the middle of coming week.

Spurrier also was caught on video talking about the situation and South Carolina’s final scrimmage, so take a look for yourself and see what he had to say.
It will be interesting to see who Spurrier goes with when he makes his final decision. Connor Mitch is currently viewed as the front-runner for the starting job, although Perry Orth and Michael Scarnecchia are also battling for the position.
As the season continues to draw closer with their opening game against the North Carolina Tar Heels on September 3rd, the Gamecocks need to get their quarterback situation figured out.
Luckily, Spurrier seems ready to make that decision soon.
