The SMU Mustangs basketball program released this season’s non-conference schedule on Friday. Home matchups against both Michigan and Gonzaga are the main highlights.
Larry Brown and his Mustangs will look to get revenge on Gonzaga after last years 72-56 defeat. A game in which SMU was held to just 24 percent shooting in the second half.
Getting past Michigan will not be an easy task with the Wolverines welcoming back key pieces such as Caris LeVert, Derrick Walton Jr. and Zak Irvin
Returning players Nic Moore, Markus Kennedy and Keith Frazier will look to continue their success in the AAC and get back to the NCAA tournament.
Last season the Mustangs won their conference regular season and tournament titles and finished with a 27-7 record. The team had their hearts broken in the postseason after a horrible goaltending call gave them a first round exit at the hands of UCLA.
Brown has done a great job rebuilding the SMU brand and will be the heavy favorite in the AAC once gain. The Mustangs open with Sam Houston State on November 14th.
