Jon Stewart turns heel, helps Seth Rollins beat John Cena

Summerslam host Jon Stewart may have famously feuded with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in the past, but was fully on his side tonight when he turned heel to help the champ defeat 15-time World Heavyweight Champion John Cena to both defend his title and win Cena’s United States Championship.

This match may have gotten some flak from fans for being a weak attempt to have Cena tie Ric Flair for most world titles won, but the two managed to make it great. Signatures were hit, with Rollins even going so far as to steal Cena’s signature finisher, the AA, and Rollins also featured some excellent high flying maneuvers.

But then Cena hit an AA as Rollins’ feet hit the referee in the face, knocking him out of the ring. No pinfall could be counted, so Cena got up and called a doctor to check out the referee. It was at that point that Stewart came out with a steel chair and teased just who would get the business end of it before he nailed Cena in the gut with it.

Rollins then hit the pedigree on top of the chair as a groggy ref came back to the ring and counted 1-2-3, giving Rollins the U.S. title as the crowd roared. Oddly enough, Sheamus did not come out to cash in his contract.

That said, count on Cena to exercise his rematch clause either tomorrow or at Night of Champions, maybe in a dual championship match once again. If WWE really wants to hype the match, they’ll make it a triple threat, maybe with Cesaro or Kevin Owens.

Either way, tomorrow night’s Raw should be a great one!
