Just one night after losing a ladder match for the NXT Championship he once held, Kevin Owens shook it off in defeating “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro.
These two had been feuding for weeks leading up to tonight, and they gave fans enough of a show to keep the adrenaline buzzing as we head towards the main event. Cesaro was the classic babyface with an edge, showing no mercy to the disrespectful heel in Owens. The fight was fast-paced from start to finish, with Cesaro nailing Owens with an elbow uppercut to the face outside the ring.
Owens was just as great in the ring, showing that he can be a high-flying big guy with dives off the ropes and electrifying flips. He also proved to be one of the toughest guys on the roster, being able to handle a Cesaro Swing and even being put in a Sharpshooter.
Fortunately, his toughness prevailed and he landed a Pop-up Powerbomb to score the pinfall victory.
That said, what’s next? Well, it’s tough to say. If you were to ask this writer, something involving the U.S. title is likely due, but whether or not it’s against Rollins remains to be seen.
Simply put, all we can do is tune into Raw tomorrow and wait and see.
