Former four-star cornerback Wesley Green has opted to leave South Carolina and will transfer to Indiana. The Hoosiers’ addition of Green was reported on the Twitter page of IU’s athletic department.
A former star at Georgia’s Martin Luther King High School, just outside of Atlanta, Green committed to South Carolina over his home state Georgia Bulldogs and took a redshirt last season. After the first week of training camp this summer, he left the program and will now head to an Indiana program that has been hurting for a jump-start for years. The Hoosiers have not made a bowl game since 2007, and have not won one since 1991. In four years under coach Kevin Wilson, IU is 14-34 (6-26 Big Ten) and has shown little hope of improving.
Green won’t be able to suit up in Bloomington until 2016, but he is a strong enough talent that he can add some much-needed energy and skill to the team’s secondary.
Indiana opens the 2015 season at home against the MVFC’s Southern Illinois Salukis on September 5.
