Middle Tennessee coach Kermit Davis dismisses 2 players

The Middle Tennessee State basketball program has had a rough off-season. Last week, senior guard DJ Jones was released for violating department policy and now two more players will join him.

According to the Associated Press, head coach Kermit Davis confirmed today the dismissal of Justin Coleman and Jalen Perry. The exact rules that were broken have yet to be specified.

The 6-foot-8 Coleman was transferring from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and was set to compete for the starting forward position. Perry was an incoming freshman guard and was going to be counted on to provide depth to an already depleted roster.

Davis has now dismissed three players from the team over the past two weeks. The Blue Raiders will head into the season with just 11 players in which five are either true freshman or sophomores.

Last year, MTSU finished with a 19-17 record. If Davis can’t get a handle on his players, 2015 looks like it will be another disappointment.
