Shea Patterson is a 2016 quarterback who is committed to the Ole Miss Rebels. He committed to them on Feb. 17 this year, and the Rebels are enjoying seeing the way he is rising up the recruiting ranks.
According to a Rivals, he is now the top rated prospect in the entire 2016 college football recruiting class.
There is no denying the fact that Patterson has the potential to be an NFL quarterback at some point if he continues working and improving like he has over the past couple of years.
During the 2014 season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Patterson put up monstrous numbers. He threw for 2,428 yards, 38 touchdowns and just three interceptions on the year.
Those numbers show exactly what he is capable of bringing to the SEC for Hugh Freeze’s Ole Miss team that is in desperate need of a quarterback.
At 6-foot-2 and 183 pounds, Patterson is the exact type of size that is ideal for a senior high school quarterback. He has plenty of areas that he can improve his game, but hard work and the Ole Miss coaching staff can help him make the necessary improvements.
That being said, being name the top recruit in the entire nation at any position is impressive. Ole Miss will need a quarterback in a big way immediately when he comes into their program and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him start as a freshman.
Freeze is excellent at developing young talent, which will Patterson improve even more before his freshman season opens up.
Expect to see Patterson put up even more massive numbers this season at IMG Academy than he did last season, and to prove why Rivals named him the top prospect in the nation.
