Shanghai Shimao Wonderland Intercontinental Hotel, a new 19-story hotel being built in China’s Songjiang District, may be the perfect crime boss lair. That’s because five-star luxury resort is nestled under rock and water just like the evil hide outs depicted in several James Bond movies.
Shanghai Shimao Wonderland is being built in the side of a quarry pit that is approximately 240 meters long,160 meters wide and 100 meters deep according to reports by Bro Bible and PokerNews.com.
Drawings by Atkins Global show the structure will have a wall of glass for a perfect view of the lake at the quarry’s base. Additionally some of the hotel’s 380 rooms will be built underwater.
Amenities will include a lakeside tea house, a water sports complex and a walkway for a close-up view of the “forest, mist, water and stone.”
The entire hotel will be powered by solar and geothermal energy.
Atkins Global reports the Shanghai Shimao Wonderland Intercontinental Hotel should be completed sometime this year.
