There is currently a highly-publicized quarterback competitionin Columbus between Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett, who stepped up as the starter for the first part of last season for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
It has been a tight race and head coach Urban Meyer has not tipped his hand on which direction he is leaning, but a cryptic tweet by Jones on Wednesday morning led to some speculation.
I can only control the things I can control, let everything else fall in place
— Cardale Jones (@CJ1two) August 26, 2015
One way to take it is that Urban Meyer has informed Jones that he will be the backup quarterback to start the season. He could be meaning that he simply has to work hard and do his best to earn playing time.
Perhaps the tweet means that the competition is still very much alive and Jones is simply saying that he has to focus on his game and not the upcoming decision.
No matter what the tweet means, Meyer has just over a week to make his final decision on the quarterback job.
Who will ultimately lead the starting offense onto the field? We will have to wait until Sept. 7 when the Buckeyes meet the Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg to find out.
