Tottenham star Harry Kane interested in being NFL kicker

There has been a recent trend in the world of soccer that has led to some of the top players coming from the top-flight leagues in Europe to the MLS in the United States to finish out the final years of their career.

However, for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane, his final years as a pro athlete could be spent in a different way in the United States.

Kane recently spoke to The Sun and said that he would like to give American football a try. Specifically, Kane admitted that he would like to be a kicker in the NFL even if it was for one game.

“It depends on how my football career goes but, when I am finished, I would love to go the NFL and be a kicker. Even if I got to play just one game it is something I would like to do. It’s a long way off yet. But it is definitely something I have thought about,” Kane said.

“We’ve had NFL teams come to Spurs and I can kick the ball as high and as far as them, but not on a consistent basis so I would need a bit of practice first.”

It is a longshot that Kane would actually ever come to the states in order to play in the NFL, but it is something fun to think about.

Just how good could an ex-professional soccer player perform as a kicker? We may just have to sit back and hope that one day we will find out — whether it is from the foot of Kane or another player.

At the very least, someone should offer the Englishman a training camp spot so he can boot a few kicks in the preseason.
