Bears fan names brain tumor ‘Aaron Rodgers’

In this world filled with college football rivalries, we sometimes forget about the greatest NFL rivalries out there. You have the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys from the 1970’s, and the classic Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers hatred of each other. The latter rivalry has just inspired a pretty cool story out of Elkhart, Indiana.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 14-year-old Bears fan Miguel Reyes was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He is currently raising money to teach his German Shepherd to detect seizures caused by the tumor.

However, that isn’t the greatest and most humorous thing about Reyes. He was asked by his teacher, Peg Kelly, to name the tumor. He looked at Kelly, who is a Packers fan, and smiled.

“I said, ‘You need to name that tumor so we can kill it,’” Kelly said. “You know what he named it? Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers. What a stinker!”

It’s nice to see that even through this horrific event, Reyes has a sense of humor. His love for the Bears apparently runs pretty deep. He named his German Shepherd “Hester” as in former return specialist Devin Hester.

No matter if you are a fan of the “good guys” or “bad guys” in this situation, you have to appreciate Reyes making the most of a terrible situation.

Good luck in your fight, Miguel. You can read more of Reyes’s story on Facebook.
