Two Texas A&M former walk-ons are mobbed by teammates after learning they will now be scholarship players.

Texas A&M walk-ons receive scholarships

Walk-on to scholarship surprises in NCAA football are all the rage these days, and now Texas A&M is playing its part.

During a team meeting and film session, two former walk-ons realized they would be receiving scholarships for their hard work via team highlights.

Junior wide receiver Boone Niederhofer and senior running back Brice Dolezal were among teammates when they learned the good news. Once it was announced and the video was over, the two players were congratulated with fist bumps and hugs.

Dolezal has rushed for 253 yards and a touchdown in his career, while Niederhofer had 29 receptions for 293 yards and a score last year in his only season in College Station.

Here’s to hoping the two can make an impact on the Aggie’s season, but no matter what happens there is no doubt head coach Kevin Sumlin and the rest of the team have made an impact on these two young men the rest of their lives.
