Auburn WR Myron Burton Jr. leaves team

Auburn Tigers redshirt freshman wide receiver Myron Burton Jr. has left the team and will not play in the 2015 season. Brandon Marcello of AL.com reported Burton’s departure.

This is definitely a surprise as Burton, a former three-star recruit out of Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia, near Atlanta, was the A-Day offensive MVP just recently. In the spring game, he had seven catches for 124 yards and a touchdown.

Though he was expected to be primarily a bench player in 2015, Burton was expected to have every chance to be a rotational player used on an as-needed basis and not simply ride the pine by any means.

No reason has been given for why Burton has opted to leave the program, but coach Gus Malzahn told Marcello that the decision was “mutual.”
