It is the start of a new era for the Michigan Wolverines, with new head coach Jim Harbaugh leading the way. He may not be able to make the Wolverines a huge contender for a major bowl game, but he is more than capable of improving them from being labeled as a pushover.
Michigan is set to take on the Utah Utes this evening in Harbaugh’s debut with the Wolverines, and it is one of the hottest tickets to any game in college football’s opening weekend.
According to College Football Talk, Michigan vs. Utah comes in at number two in ticket sales behind the Notre Dame vs. Texas game. It isn’t all that surprising that Harbaugh’s debut is such a hot ticket. There aren’t many tickets left to purchase and it wouldn’t be surprising if the game is officially sold out by now.
It will be interesting to see how many Michigan fans flood into Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium this evening to check out Harbaugh’s first game as head football coach.
Harbaugh is going to make a major difference for the program moving forward, and there are high expectations for him in 2015. Harbaugh is used to having pressure on his shoulders everywhere he goes, but this type of popularity has to be overwhelming for him.
That being said, Harbaugh should also expect the media to praise him with his highs and hate him with his lows.
If he comes out and the Wolverines lose this evening, there are going to be quite a few fans and media analysts talking negatively about Michigan.
On the other hand, if they are able to pull off a big road victory, there will be the same people clamoring about the Wolverines’ potential this season.
Expect to see Michigan look much better from a fundamental standpoint and to see Harbaugh make his mark on the game early on.
