Weather postpones Illinois-Kent State matchup to today

Though Illinois and Kent State were set to open their respective seasons in Champaign last night, Mother Nature had other ideas. Due to torrential rain that made the field at Memorial Stadium impossible to use, the game was postponed until 2 p.m. ET this afternoon.

Illinois made the announcement on its official athletics website. The game will not be televised, but will be available to stream on BTN2Go.

Best of all, tickets from last night’s game will be honored for today’s, as Illini fans will get to see the team coached by interim coach Bill Cubit, who replaced the recently fired Tim Beckman just over a week ago.

That all being said, start tailgating, put on your team colors, and enjoy the game!
