Class of 2016 three-star point guard Ako Adams, out of Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia, has committed to the Rice Owls. Adams made the announcement on his personal Twitter page.

Adams joins four-star guard Josh Hall in the Owls’ 2016 class, which continues to usher in more talent under coach Mike Rhoades. Rice went 12-20 (8-10 Conference USA) in his first season, but the fact that a top prospect in Hall chose Rice over a more established program in Cincinnati as well as others like Arizona, SMU and Texas is a coup for the Owls. The team has not made the NCAA Tournament since 1970, and Rhoades is working hard to become the man to break that drought.
In adding Adams, he gets one step closer to that goal.
