Tyrone Swoopes can become ‘top rated QB prospect’?

The Texas Longhorns had a rough start to their 2015 campaign. Charlie Strong’s team fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 38-3, but there is something positive they can take away from the season opener.

According to Tony Pauline of Draft Insider, Longhorns quarterback Tyrone Swoopes has the talent to be one of the top prospects at his position.

“I’ve been vocal in my opinion that Tyrone Swoopes will develop into a top rated quarterback prospect for the next level,” Pauline wrote. “In all honesty despite his great physical skills the Longhorn passer does make a fair number of mistakes.”

Swoopes didn’t show off that talent during his first appearance in 2015, with a putrid statline that read 7-of 22-passing for 93 yards.

In order for Pauline to reach the level that Pauline believes he can reach, we will need to see more maturity from the signal-caller moving forward. If not, Swoopes could lose his job to Jerrod Heard before getting to develop into that top prospect.
