At a time when most of the experts are prediction J.T. Barrett will start for the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday night against the Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg, ESPN’s Joe Schad has a different prediction.
According to Schad, it is Cardale Jones — who went 3-0 last season — that is expected to earn the start.
Schad shared his thoughts during a Monday afternoon appearance on SportsCenter.
Joe Schad says on SportsCenter he thinks Cardale Jones will start. First media type I think I’ve heard go on the record saying that.

Last season, Barrett set a Big Ten record for touchdowns in a season. However, it was Jones who beat out the Wisconsin Badgers, Alabama Crimson Tide and Oregon Ducks on their way to victory in the inaugural College Football Playoff.
If Jones does get the start and performs as well as last season, the Buckeyes risk will pay off greatly.
