Stephen Vogt takes foul tip to the nuts, leaves game

Baseball is a game that can be funny at times, except if you happen to be Oakland A’s catcher and first baseman Stephen Vogt. If you’re a fan who just happened to be watching the game on TV as Vogt took a foul tip off of the family jewels, however, then baseball can sometimes be downright hilarious.

In yesterday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, that was the case as Vogt learned the hard way just what happens if you forget to wear a cup.

Sure enough, Vogt fell to the ground and writhed in pain afterward before getting helped off the field. He will likely be out for the next few games and even if he was wearing a cup, he was still on the receiving end of a 93 mile per hour pitch that only just grazed the bat. Either way, it’s a rough interruption to a breakout season, as Vogt has hit .271 with a career best 18 home runs and 67 RBI in 2015.

Maybe the next time he suits up for a game, he’ll wear some military-grade armor just for safe-keeping!
