4-star PG Xavier Simpson commits to Michigan

Class of 2016 four-star point guard Xavier Simpson, out of Ohio’s Lima Senior High School, about 75 miles north of Dayton, has committed to the University of Michigan. Simpson announced his decision at his high school, and Jerry Meyer of 247 Sports reported it on Twitter.

This is a coup for Michigan, as the team literally did go stealth and vulture its way onto Simpson’s radar. On top of the Wolverines, he was weighing offers from Miami, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa State. He’s on the smaller side at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, but has a keen ability to read defenses on the court and plays hard, never hesitating to step up in clutch situations. Once he fills out and improves his long range shooting, he can definitely become a point man similar to former Wolverine Trey Burke.
