Cardale Jones, J.T. Barrett remain listed as co-starters

Just when we thought the quarterback battle was won by Cardale Jones’ performance against Virginia Tech Monday night, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has listed Jones and J.T. Barrett as co-starters, according to reports.

After leading the Buckeyes to a 42-24 win over Virginia Tech, the quarterbacks will still continue to share snaps in week two against Hawaii on Saturday although I expect to see Jones to get the nod to start again.

Other notable takeaways from the new depth chart is former quarterback Braxton Miller is now listed as the lone starter at H-back. Junior defensive end Joey Bose is listed as a co-starter at defensive end after being suspended for the Virginal Tech game.

Barrett will see plenty of playing time this week as Ohio State is a big favorite against the Rainbow Warriors. Barrett has shown great leadership this season, being vocal and supportive of Jones and the rest of the team. He is the first sophomore team captain for Ohio State in the history of their storied program.

With continued success, do not expect the competition between Jones and Barrett to end anytime soon. It may last all year.
