Aaron Rodgers has been one of the faces of Nike throughout his career, but that is reportedly changing during the 2015 NFL season. According to a report from ESPN, Rodgers has agreed to sign a deal with Adidas and will leave Nike. It is a huge addition for the adidas brand and Rodgers is making a bold statement as well.
After deciding that he would sign with adidas, Rodgers talked about his decision and how excited he is to move forward with his new company.
“I’ve set the bar high throughout my career and the opportunity to collaborate and have influence on products and marketing with adidas is a game changer for me,” Rodgers said in a statement.
Leaving the number one sports brand in the United States couldn’t have been an easy decision for Rodgers, but there are plenty of reasons to believe that adidas is on the rise once again. They were able to lock up NBA superstar James Harden to a 13-year, $200 million deal earlier this year, which gives them an excellent duo with Rodgers.
There are plenty of other NFL players that are sporting the adidas brand.
Rodgers joins the likes of DeMarco Murray, Jimmy Graham, Von Miller, Phillip Dorsett and DeVante Parker. Obviously there are way more Nike brand supporters than adidas at this point in time, but the brand is beginning to make a rise in the NFL.
Now that Rodgers has made the move, it will set the stage for many other players to jump over as well.
