Video: GBI investigating HS team over players’ assault

In the wake of last week’s horrifying actions at a high school football game in Texas where two players tackled a referee from behind, you would hope that we wouldn’t hear anymore controversial topics.

Unfortunately, for one South Georgia high school team, that isn’t the case.

According to WJXT in Jacksonville, the Camden County High School football team in Kingsland, Georgia is being investigated after several members of the team beat up a teammate for sitting on an opposing team’s sideline during a varsity game. He is a junior varsity player who didn’t dress for the varsity game and his girlfriend is a member of the cheerleading squad for the other school.

The player was also wearing the wrong colored shirt as the team had agreed to wear white, while he wore black.

The fight was captured on the mobile app Snapchat and it quickly spread throughout the area near the Georgia/Florida border. There is at least one coach of the team that can be seen in the background watching the fight as it happened. The below video may be graphic for some to watch. Please take caution.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now looking into the matter as it has been reported that a number of coaches for the team were not only watching the fight, but instigating it.

This is absolutely sick. There is no excuse for these players, let alone these coaches, to act in this sort of way. If the GBI is investigating this situation, you can almost bet it is going to come down hard on somebody.

Whether it is on the players, the coaches, or even the administrative staff, some one deserves to go down for this and I hope they get what is coming to them.
