Though Miami Hurricanes coach Al Golden is off to a 2-0 start this season following yesterday’s 44-20 win over Florida Atlantic, there are still some fans who recall the glory days of “The U” and would rather he get the sack. This feeling was taken to an extreme yesterday, when a plane flew a banner that read “Make Miami Great Again. Butch Davis 2016” over FAU’s stadium yesterday.
Of course, reporters aplenty captured the flight on Twitter.

It’s understandable as to why some fans would be getting impatient with Golden, as he has yet to win a bowl game during his tenure and has gone 30-22 (16-16 ACC) in five years. Much of that can be attributed to Miami being under certain restrictions amid NCAA sanctions when he first arrived, but the ship is slowly starting to turn around and Golden has proven to be a solid recruiter.
But it’s also hard to ignore the Butch Davis years, as he went 51-20 (33-9 Big East) in six seasons and won three conference titles and was 4-0 in bowl games. He currently works as an adviser for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is only 63, so a return to head coaching is certainly possible. However, it’s still unlikely.
Thus, ‘Canes fans will just have to wait and see what Golden has to offer in 2015 despite their feelings.
