Per the Florida Gators Twitter account, cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III will be unavailable tonight against East Carolina after re-aggravating a leg injury he suffered back in October of last year in practice.

Though the game will be at Florida Stadium, this will be a blow to the defensive backfield losing Hargreaves, who had his first interception of the season last year.
With Hargreaves a top prospect for next year’s draft in Chicago, the Florida offense, who’ll be led by a dual-quarterback system in Will Grier and Treon Harris, needs to make sure it compensates for the defensive loss, despite the Pirates losing Shane Carden last year to the draft.
The last time these two met was eight months ago in the Birmingham Bowl, where the Florida Gators defeated ECU 28-20 thanks to four sacks and three turnovers (Hargreaves snagged one interception in the endzone to knot the game up) forged by the Florida defense.
Florida is ready to hand over $1.2 million to ECU for participating in tonight’s game.
