In a game of AFC division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens (2014 – 3rd, AFC North) and Denver Broncos (2014 – 1st, AFC North) convened at Sports Authority Field to start their seasons.
It wasn’t much of an offensive effort by either team, but a tale of two elite defensive units as both forced at least one interception (2 – Flacco, 1 – Manning). Also pivotal moments for the defenses was the effect of wreaking havoc on their opponent’s quarterback as Manning fell victim to four sacks and Flacco accrued two of his own.
But the Bad News Bears decided to stop by to put an early hammer on Terrell Sugg‘s season as he injured his Achilles heel, which can take seven to nine months of recovery alone.
With Suggs done for the season, the Ravens linebackers corp will be put into the hands of 11-year veteran Daryl Smith and pseudo-new guy from North Texas, Zach Orr.
A member of the Ravens since 2003, Suggs has amassed 511 tackles, 106.5 sacks, 7 interceptions and 50 passes defended.
