Former star Michigan State forward Draymond Green was in East Lansing on Saturday as he was the guest picker for College Gameday. The 2015 NBA champion was not alone as he brought along former teammate Adreian Payne and the Larry O’Brien NBA Finals trophy.
Before the Spartans’ big game against the Oregon Ducks, the team brought him on the field to honor the star for all that he did during his time with the Spartans’ basketball program. College Basketball Talk shared the video where he was holding the trophy at midfield in Spartan Stadium and given a pretty sweet Spartan helmet for his accomplishments.
For all the achievements he helped the Spartans experience, he also left his mark on the school as well. Green made a $3.1 million donation to the programs, which is the largest donation by a former player in Spartan athletics history. That’s pretty generous from a guy that helped lead the Spartans to two Final Four appearance during his four seasons with the team.
Green’s awesome night was capped off with a 31-28 victory over the Ducks just a few hours later. I seriously hope we see Green wearing his new helmet on the court at shootaround this season.
