Georgia running back Nick Chubb is a dangerous athlete for the Bulldogs. During Todd Gurley’s absence due to suspension and injury last season, he showed the SEC and the country why he was the next big thing to come out of Athens.
But what if I told you that Georgia wasn’t Chubb’s first choice?
According to College Spun, Chubb was originally favoring Georgia’s rival South Carolina over the Bulldogs. Chubb had set his date to announce his commitment, which was going to be Georgia, but South Carolina gave him an offer, causing him to push the date back so he could visit the campus.
The one reason why he didn’t choose the Gamecocks? Steve Spurrier’s absence from the campus during his visit.
“I would’ve got to meet the head coach. That would’ve been great to know who I was gonna play for,” Chubb told DawgNation. “But I probably would’ve come to Georgia.”
I guess Gamecock fans will never know what having Chubb run the ball will be like. Imagine how much different things would be right now.
