Clemson scores TD with wonky formation

The Clemson Tigers improved to 3-0 and send their ACC rival Louisville Cardinals reeling to an 0-3 record with a 20-17 victory last night, and can probably thank an odd formation for it.

In the third quarter, Clemson opted to send five players in motion, plus one bigger player back as if to receive a screen pass. That opened the door for star quarterback DeShaun Watson to find tight end Jordan Leggett downfield for a 25-yard go-ahead touchdown to make the score 17-10.

Needless to say, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney can officially be labeled an offensive guru after coming up with this play.

Clemson receives a bye next week, while Louisville will seek to get it’s first win against the Southern Conference’s Samford Bulldogs next Saturday.
