The Baylor Bears will now be down a big part of their offense after the team announced it had dismissed tight end Tre’Von Armstead. He missed last week’s game against Lamar for an unknown reason and it was finally revealed that he was being let go from the program.
According to College Football Talk, other than an unspecified violation of team rules, no other reason was given as to why Armstead had been dismissed. He has played in 26 games the last two seasons and started six in 2014 while earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
Armstead’s dismissal now opens the door for 400-pound tight end LaQuan McGowan to take over the starting spot. McGowan was listed as a co-starter with Armstead after spring practices.
I don’t know how well this is going to work for the Bears, but it is pretty apparent that McGowan is going to get his chance to shine. The Bears are off this week and they will welcome in the Rice Owls next Saturday.
