Colorado earns ‘worst for the money’ from Forbes

Not experiencing any domination on the field since the mid-1990s (under Rick Neuheisel), the Colorado Buffaloes have found an avenue of success. But it’s a superlative they may not be fond of since Forbes has coined the program “the worst bang for the buck in college football.”

After totaling $51.4 million in expenses over the last three years – of which the Buffs have collected seven wins to 19 losses – an average price tag per win of $7.34 million is one of the highest in Division I, beating out some SEC schools, like Mississippi State, whose figure dwarfs Colorado’s, processing $44 million over the same course.

And with 63 schools towering over one school in spending, Cincinnati, takes hold of the number one school for the money as the Bearcats program averages nine wins per season at a value of $1.6 million per win and manages to spend $43.6 million, following a $1 million contract buyout with head coach, Tommy Tuberville.
