A product of University of San Diego’s baseball team and once a top prospect in the Chicago Cubs farm system, starting third baseman and now media darling, Kris Bryant has transformed the landscape of the Northside from a dark abyss to a beacon of hope.
Contributing instantly once promoted from the Iowa Cubs, the triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, Bryant has camouflaged with his environment and transferred some diamond plays defensively at third base.
With a bromance in full swing with teammate and first baseman, Anthony Rizzo, and his love affair with fellow Chicagoans blossoming, Bryant has traded in the desert heat for the harsh winds of Chicago and hasn’t failed to adapt.
To test his brand, Bryant hopped into a Lyft-endorsed ride and disguised himself with all but one accessory while sporting the scruff that hugged his jawbone. His next assignment was to pick up random people and escort them to their desired destinations without breaking character.
The passengers continued to carry on casual conversations with the Lyft driver – unknowingly – about sports in Chicago and the current status of the Cubs.
But Bryant wasn’t too thrilled that the folks didn’t connect the dots sooner.
