Notre Dame’s worst fears came true today as it was announced that sophomore Drue Tranquill would miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL while celebrating breaking up a pass in yesterday’s game against Georgia Tech. The university made the announcement earlier this afternoon.

This is the second time that Tranquill, a former three-star recruit out of Fort Wayne’s Carroll High School, has torn his ACL. In November of last season, he tore the same ligament in his left knee. Such injuries are no joke, and all that Tranquill and Notre Dame can do now is that his mobility isn’t greatly affected by it. Since arriving on campus last year, he has posted 38 tackles and a touchdown.
Campus Sports wishes Tranquill a speedy recovery and will update his status as any new information becomes available.
Notre Dame takes on UMass next weekend.
