St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley will once again be held out of action for Week 2, but could very well be back for Week 3.
This isn’t exactly a surprise, as Gurley is still working his way back from the torn ACL he suffered while playing for the Georgia Bulldogs last season. Despite his injury, the Rams drafted him with the 10th overall pick with the hopes that he could become the powerful running back that coach Jeff Fisher’s offense so desperately needed.
But it’s now starting to look like Gurley is being handled with extreme kid gloves. He was held out of all preseason action and only just starting practicing with the first team earlier this week. Yes, ACL injuries are no joke, especially for running backs, but how is Gurley supposed to be effective if he isn’t tested with contact? Protecting an investment is one thing, but it just seems like the Rams are defining overkill right now.
Campus Sports will update Gurley’s recovery and status as any and all new information becomes available.
St. Louis takes on the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field today at 1 p.m. ET. Check out the game on Fox and stay with Campus Sports for updates!
