Oregon announces home date with BYU for 2022

Oregon announced on Tuesday that the Ducks will host the BYU Cougars on Sept. 10, 2022, according to reports.

With the new playoff format, programs are making sure they schedule quality opponents to increase their stock by playing higher quality non-Power Five teams and with this match-up set, Oregon looks to have a strong schedule for the future.

“This matchup fits our scheduling philosophy within the current landscape, which means facing top competition along with our Pac-12 opponents,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a statement.

Although it’s difficult to predict how tough the Cougars will be in seven years, right now it appears BYU is more than a quality opponent after an exciting first three weeks of the 2015 season.

The two teams have met six times before dating back to 1964, but only one time since 1990. Oregon fell to BYU in the most recent meeting, 38-8, in the 2006 Las Vegas Bowl but the all-time series is split at 3-3.
