Fresno State’s quarterback situation remains in the air

After a turbulent weekend on the West Coast, the Fresno State Bulldogs quarterback situation is as cloudy as ever.

Due to an injury suffered by freshman Chason Virgil and a weekend arrest involving Zack Greenlee, it is going to be interesting to see how everything plays out. According to the Fresno Bee, Greenlee was charged with public drunkenness.

Virgil is out, while Greenlee’s status is up in the air for Saturday’s matchup against the San Jose Spartans in San Jose.

The Bulldogs have issued a vague statement on the matter.

“We’re aware of the incident. We’re gathering details and we’ll withhold further comment until the investigative process plays out,” head coach Tim DeRuyter said in a statement. “Discipline will be handled internally. He will practice this week, and Saturday we’ll make another announcement on it.”

If Greenlee gets suspended for the game, former West Virginia quarterback Ford Childress is expected to line up under center.

Check back in on Saturday to see who Fresno State chooses as their latest starter.
