It seems to be that one can’t think about South Carolina Head Coach, Steve Spurrier, without thinking about his signature visor. In fact, you’ll almost never find him without it.
In an effort to get to the bottom of the visor story, Golf Channel’s “Feherty” asked Spurrier all about it in an hour-long interview.
It all begin back when he was the head coach down at the University of Florida, where he coached for 12 years, from 1990-2011. When he got down to the “hot and sticky” Florida climate, he had to turn in his hat, that he frequently wore during his former time at Duke, for a visor.
But the weather wasn’t the only advantage of making the switch from hat to visor.
According to Spurrier, it’s easier to avoid the problem of grass stains that generally come with the infamous tossing of his visor in his frequent fits of anger during game time.
And there you have it.
The Spurrier visor, explained.
