You can preview the first track from Pope Francis’s rock album

FTW is calling it “pop rock.” Rolling Stone classifies it as “prog-infused.”

However you want to categorize it–Pope Francis is putting out an album.

The “Vatican-approved LP” entitled  Wake Up! is due out this November, but you can already preview a track–of course you can–and pre-order it on iTunes. (Perfect timing to go along with his historic trip to the States, isn’t it?)

You can listen to the track here.

The debut track features excerpts from speeches that His Holiness has given set to an instrumental background including synth, thunderous percussion, and even electric guitar.

If the rest of the album is as universally likeable as this first track, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Pope starts garnering Grammy buzz.
